The Methods of Communication
We introduce here, several considerations about what communication is, its goals and methods, so that we can set goals when communicating a message to those with whom we live, particularly when as Christians communicate the gospel of salvation. We seek to establish two types of communication: individual and collective.
First, we suggest the “POINT CONNECTION SET”, understanding that the term “communication” comes from Latin “communis” meaning “common.” Therefore, it can be established for communication, dialogue with someone, you should establish as many points in common with the person who is our interlocutor.
We can cite as an example, the episode occurred between Jesus and the Samaritan woman. In common and both were based at the well of Jacob The fact that Jesus had spoken to a woman, and Samaria, since he is Jewish, overcomes barriers social, moral, racial, sexual and religious – with the ultimate goal of create a link to establish a dialogue with the Samaritan woman. The law of communication between individuals points to the following process: so that there is communication, it is necessary to establish points of contact, connection, between the communicator and receiver.
The second goal is threefold involving “thinking, feeling and action,” based on the fact that communication involves intellect, emotion and will. So everything that you wish to communicate to others, revolves around
As Christians we do not have to produce a message to be transmitted to others. The message is contained in the Bible, adopted as the standard of living. If by chance this message is not thought, feeling and emotion, knowing what we say does not produce effective communication with the caller. If I say that I am committed to the eternal truth revealed in God’s Word, this should reflect my value system, the things I value, in that they use my time, my money, what excites me to live in my philosophy life.
We are what we believe rather than what we do or say. God calls us to incarnate, as His method is to rescue a person in the world that surrounds it, replacing it again in this very world his, and so this new creature thinks, feels and does, demonstrates to the world the power of regeneration and renewal of divine grace.
The third goal of communication is the difficult art of “putting into words,” based on the fact that if we are dominated by a truth that our lives be like to pass it to others? That is, in terms of communication, how to translate into words what you think, feel and do?
In fact, that wants to communicate not just words, for these are mere symbols, but we tried to carry the message of a life, then the communication must be verbal (oral or written) and nonverbal (body language or actions ), but with consistency in two ways! What we say must be in harmony with what we practice to others, we cite as an example, Jesus Christ, who never did anything to discredit his teaching: his attitude and words were always consistent.
Communication is a process, so one should always be “improve communication”, which must go through two phases: preparation and presentation.
1 – Preparation The most important tool we have in order to succeed in communicating our message. It should consist mainly of INTRODUCTION, DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION. Each of these parts must be very well prepared and structured, including demonstrating our creativity and experience, so that the content reaches its goal: to convey a message of life. The evaluation of our communication is not made cross-checking is what we say but what people begin to think, not what we feel, but what people come to feel, not what we do, but what people are doing.
2 – The Presentation means to enunciate clearly, firmly, so that listeners can perceive and understand exactly what it says. The volume of voice and posture are important factors in communicating a message to listeners. Allowing the sound of spoken words are clearly perceived, so that there is no misinterpretation, which produces a “noise” in memsagem transmitted.
3 – A final step in communication is the response from listeners. For if we neglect for this step, all the previous work may be lost. Find the answer means find out how people learn, how they feel, what they are doing. Open space for the “answer” people brings us back to the starting point – the triple placement of communication: thinking-feeling-action, being put into words, by the people, in their own words, expressing the result of communication the message.
